Nebrasketball Stays Perfect! Huskers Dominate Northwestern | 22-Game Win Streak Continues (2026)

Nebraska Basketball Remains Undefeated, Pulls Away from Northwestern

In a thrilling showcase, the Nebraska men's basketball team, ranked No. 8 nationally, maintained its perfect record by defeating Northwestern at Welsh-Ryan Arena on Saturday with a score of 77-58. This victory propelled the Huskers to an impressive overall record of 18-0 and a flawless 7-0 in the Big Ten Conference, while the Wildcats struggled, dropping to 8-10 and 0-7 in the league.

What’s even more remarkable is that Nebraska’s winning streak now stands at a stunning 22 games, making them the team to beat this season.

The first half of the game was filled with excitement and tension, featuring seven lead changes as both teams battled for dominance. However, Nebraska began to assert itself after a layup by Braden Frager. Following this, Pryce Sandfort executed a remarkable four-point play just before the under-8 media timeout, giving the Huskers a five-point lead, which they maintained by halftime.

As the second half commenced, Northwestern opened the scoring with a three-pointer, but Nebraska quickly responded with a 7-0 run. The Huskers extended their lead to double figures with 15:44 left on the clock and at one point surged ahead by nearly 20 points.

Throughout the game, Nebraska showcased impressive shooting prowess, finishing with a field goal percentage of 50.9% and hitting 11 out of 26 attempts from beyond the arc. On the other hand, Northwestern managed to convert 42.6% of their shots, including 5 out of 14 from three-point range.

Frager and Sandfort, who previously combined for seven three-pointers against Oregon, once again proved to be a dynamic duo, netting seven three-pointers against Northwestern. Together, they contributed a staggering 42 points to the scoreboard, with Sandfort leading the way with 22 points and five successful three-point shots.

On the opposing side, Nick Martinelli, the nation's leading scorer, put up a commendable fight with 22 points against the Huskers. He shot 9-for-20 and secured a game-high of 10 rebounds, showcasing his skill and determination.

Next up, Nebraska will be back on their home court, facing off against Washington this Wednesday. The tip-off at Pinnacle Bank Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. CST, and fans can catch the action live on the Big Ten Network.
